They say when it rains, it pours.

Gray skies, rains and traffic greeted the opening day of MarCommAsia last September 24, enough to send jitters to the organizers. But for a team of advertising and marketing veterans of Motiv8, they knew it would take more than a storm to stop the most-awaited event from happening.

Lights were up early at the World Trade Center as invited guests, sponsors and exhibitors started pouring in even before 9:00 a.m. Event and press photographers have never stopped working on their shots until it was time for the directors and officers of Motiv8 Management & Consultancy, Inc. (MMCI) take the stage.

The director for marketing, advertising & public relations of MMCI, Susie Achacoso-Cruz, opened the event with a prayer followed by an introduction from Divino Villanueva, Jr., president of MMCI. Keynote Speaker and former Vice Mayor of Lipa City Fernando Manguera introduced the honorary guest speaker, Secretary Cerge Remonde. MMCI’s technical & exhibition director, Ed Arcilla, together with the rest of officers and special guests, awarded a plaque of appreciation to Secretary Cerge Remonde. The ceremonial unveiling of MarCommAsia 2008 came with surprising twists of special lighting effects, sounds and fireworks. Carminia Rodriguez was the master-of-ceremonies.

For the next two days, MarCommAsia 2008 International Exhibition and Conference continued to light up the World Trade Center amid downcast skies and damp weather. Exhibition attendance doubled than what was expected. Truly angels were on their side.

The event was supported by NS Telecom, ABS-CBN, MBC, The Manila Bulletin, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Business Mirror, Focus Media, ASI, Clear Channels, Stagecrafts and in part by Mang Inasal, Ricoh, The Philippine Star and Journal Group. Adobo Magazine and NBN are the MarCommAsia’s media partners.
