Now widely known as a quality brand that banners authentic PINOY fare in its menu, MANG INASAL’S distinctive Ilonggo recipes have found a lucrative market among fast-food loving Filipinos. It is specifically patronized for its grilled products that include pork and chicken marinated in a unique blend of spices that render meats soft and juicy as they come out of the grilling charcoals.
MANG INSAL started 5 years ago at the modest Robinson’s carpark in Iloilo City and not too many people predicted the kind of success that it has readily accomplished: the first branch outside Iloilo in 7 months, its 50th branch in Bacolod only last year and early this year, its 100th branch in Kalibo, sterling testimonials to MANG INASAL’S management and the savvy business acumen of its founders, who are exceptionally proud of the many collateral small business that their own growth has spawned: calamansi, charcoal, banana leaves, vegetables and fish suppliers as well as the thousands of people that have found employment in their many stores. Please visit their website www.manginasal.com.

Nigos)

Inasal is actually the Visayan term for barbecue but Mang Inasal’s version has a taste all its own. Using only the freshest ingredients and a marinade concocted out of local spices and herbs whose recipe is a closely guarded secret, its barbecue has that distinct taste that is well loved in Iloilo. It’s savory without being salty and there’s just a tinge of sweetness that does not drown out the other flavors and that is just right for the Filipino palate. Cooked over coals, the meat is tender and juicy by itself and needs no other sauce to enhance its taste. Bamboo sticks are used for skewers. Served with piping hot rice wrapped in banana leaves, Mang Inasal’s barbecue is a hearty meal that provides diners great value for their money.

Moreover, the ambience in every Mang Inasal outlet encourages kinamot (the Ilonggo word for eating with bare hands). All these evoke a rush of nostalgia for tradition, culture and most of all, home.

But grilled chicken isn’t the only fare that Mang Inasal offers. It also has pork and bangus sisig, grilled pork, bangus, pecho, liver and baticolon, fish and pork sinigang, Pinoy burger, and desserts like halo-halo, mais con hielo and saging melt.

Nigos)

Fast-food restaurants in the country come by the dozen. There are outlets of multinational fast-food chains which have exported their food items from the country where it originates to the local market. There are also these chains’ copycats which have modified their food offerings to suit the Filipino taste. Others maintain to be truly Pinoy. But none has captured the Filipino palate in so less a time than Mang Inasal.

Who would have ever through that a once backyard industry would make it this far? It was only five years ago, on December 12, 2003, when Mang Inasal opened its very first outlet at Robinson’s Carpark in Iloilo City. Seven months later, on July 4, 2004, its first branch outside Iloilo—in TATC, Roxas City, began its operations. Its first restaurant outside the Visayas, in Davao City, opened on December 8, 2005. Then, it achieved another milestone by opening its 50th Mang Inasal branch in Bacolod North Drive on February 8, 2008. And today, January 9, Mang Inasal will accomplish another high point as it opens its 100th store in Kailbo, Aklan.

But there are no secrets to the success Mang Inasal is currently reaping. Some credit it to the grilled food that it provides. Others attribute it to its truly Pinoy fare and distinctly Ilonggo recipe offering. Some opined it’s the use of local herbs and spices that make its chicken taste good. Others still say it’s the price of its food which is truly very affordable. Whatever it is, Mang Inasal’s growth has really been phenomenal.

It really did not take some time before Mang Inasal, despite stiff competition, made its presence felt in the market. Hordes of diners usually frequent its branches. The opening of new branches has always been anticipated. And with more and more branches sprouting in the country, Mang Inasal has indeed already captured the heart of every Filipino.

No less than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo denied that Advanced Contact Solutions, leader and pioneer in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), had lost 900 employees recently.

P GMA had honored ACS with her presence in inaugurating the last two ACS sites in Lipa and Araneta, Quezon City. Known as a champion of BPO, President Arroyo quipped, “In fact, they are looking for more workers.”

ACS has been in operation since 1996 and has 6 sites and over 6500 seats. ACS services US, UK, Canadian, Australian and Philippine clients. Through Paxys, its listed company, ACS became the first contact center to be listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).

‘We continue to be a strong and stable company,” said Victor M. Endaya, President and CEO of ACS. “The confidence of our clients and partners in our company and the loyalty and determination of our people, continue to be the driving force of our company.”

Labor Secretary Marianito Roque had also confirmed that no one lost his job in ACS after confirming with the company’s Human Resource Manager. “These employees were transferred to other clients of a similar nature of work,” said Roque on a radio interview.

Because of the global economic crisis, the Business Process Outsourcing industry in the Philippines is expected to boom and contact centers, including ACS, will need to hire more people. “It is business as usual for ACS,” said Endaya, “ACS is optimistic and continues to provide the best customer service to our clients and others who look for a delightful experience for their consumers.”
